Michelin Madrid Bib Gourmand: Tepic

Tepic Salad

My husband and I also like to eat in Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants in Madrid once in a while. I think, for this particular lunch, it was my birthday, and our first option was to eat in La Monteria, but we couldn’t get a same day reservation there.

When I eat with my husband, one of our main criteria in choosing a restaurant is its proximity to his work. So it has to be in Barrio Salamanca. I’ve practically eaten in almost all Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants in Barrio Salamanca, Madrid, so it’s harder to choose a restaurant when I’m with him.

Location: 5/5

The location of Tepic Restaurant is 5/5. It is in near Colon, which is a very expensive area in Barrio Salamanca. It’s quite central and you had the option of eating in the terraza (which is not right in front of the restaurant but in the corner of Serrano and Ayala. You can’t get any more central than Serrano in Madrid.

Interiors: 5/5

Tepic is a Mexican restaurant with really nice interiors. Most Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants in Madrid that I’ve seen are actually on the smaller side in terms of how big the restaurant is, and Tepic was no exception. The interiors, however, were tastefully decorated. Some walls were covered with mirrors, but in antique finish, which didn’t make it glaring and dated but made the restaurant space bigger.

Food: 5/5

I really loved their food here. I’m a Mexican food lover and their food here was bursting with flavor. We ordered two starters and two mains and shared a dessert. I ordered a glass of wine, while he ordered a beer. Their menu had pictures so ordering was easy. All in all, our bill was only 60 euros. It was good value for money.

For starters, we had the Tepic salad (which was a big serving and oh so good) and chicken tacos. For the mains, we had the governor tacos (which I wasn’t able to take a picture of) and the beef tacos. We shared the corn cake for dessert (really good and unique).

Service: 4/5

The service in Tepic Restaurant is 4/5 just because itw asn’t that memorable, but it wasn’t bad.

All in all, it was a good experience. If you’re going here, you need to order the governor tacos – they are really good. I liked this restaurant a lot and I would actually go back if I had a craving for Mexican food.
